We were incorporating some new stuff, more electronic kind of stuff. Neil talked about that period recently on his website as a weird time when tickets weren’t really selling in some European markets and some shows even got canceled. To put this Rust Bucket period in context, let’s go back to the 1987 Crazy Horse Life tour. Sampedro retired from Crazy Horse following the 2014 leg of the group’s Alchemy tour and has kept a low profile since then, but he called us from his home on the Big Island of Hawaii to look back at the Rust Bucket era and explain why he stepped away from the band after a 40-year run.
